Consumers have been waiting a long time for cell phones to offer GPS services. The demand has been rising since Garmin has shown the world the luxuries of having a GPS at your disposal. However, the type of GPS navigational systems that have been available over the past few years are rather pricy. This is why the demand for GPS cell phones has been raising so much. The costs of having GPS services on a cell phone is considerably cheaper that buying a Garmin GPS receiver.

There are currently two providers offering GPS services; Verizon and Alltel.

Verizon is at the lead of the pack with the release of VZ Navigator back in September. The VZ Navigator allows for auto-routing, local search by name or category, position sharing with other VZ Navigator users, and web mapping.

Alltel is starting to get its foot in the door too. Consumer demand is simply to high to let cell phone GPS features slip by. So you should start to see a lot more cell phones entering the market with GPS capabilities

Currently any cell phone with the GPS feature will also have a camera feature.
