Carl Edwards came to The Milwaukee Mile with a new crew chief and a strong determination to break his 36 race winless streak. The 2007 Nationwide series champion had been winless since June 2007 and he was ready to get back to his winning ways.

To win at the Camping World RV Rental 250, Edwards had to get past both experience and youth. The experience came from series leader and third place finisher Clint Bowyer. Edwards had to make a fender rubbing suggestion to get his Ford past the Chevy driven by Bowyer on lap 226 giving Edwards the lead for his eventual win. After the race Bowyer was not happy about the nudge from his friend but then again, this is the type of racing we all expect at The Milwaukee Mile.

Edwards had to hold off last weeks race winner and 18 year old rookie Joey Logano who finished in second place. Logano appeared very strong the whole night and led many laps. The other young gun in the race, Brad Keselowski appeared to be the car to beat most of the evening. After starting on the pole, Keselowski led most of the race. Logano made an un-requested aerodynamic change to Keselowskis car after bumping into him on lap 171 to take the lead. After that incident Keselowski remained fast but did not have enough at the end and finished eighth.

Jack Roush seems to be the smartest person in the garage making the crew chief switch earlier in the week. Drew Blickensderfer became Edwards crew chief this week and they come away victorious in their first race together. This feat is even more amazing when you consider that Edwards has spent most of the weekend in Sonoma getting ready for Sundays Sprint Series race. In steps Erik Darnell to help with car set-up while Edwards is qualifying in wine country. Darnell was fresh off an eighth place finish the night before in the Craftsman race. With two helicopter rides and a plane flight, Edwards hops in and drives the number 60 to victory.

You can see crafty Roush planning this out all week, first we will switch crew chiefs, second we will have another driver handle set-up and then lastly, Carl you jet in and win the race. Yes sir, Roush sure knows how to plan a win.

There was very little change in the series standings after the race. Bowyer remains in first with Keselowski in second, David Reutimann in third, Edwards in fourth and David Ragan moved up one spot into fifth.

With a new crew chief and his first win this year, watch for Edwards to be pushing for his second series championship.
