Direct TV DVR is a personal Digital Video Recording technology that enables the subscriber to record programming to be archived and viewed at the subscribers convenience. This DVR stores movies or any recorded programming on a hard drive in the receiver. This technology has the capability to supercede the need for traditional VCRs and DVD players.
The digital world and popular pressure have given in to the free reign of information. Video Cassettes are being replaced with digital technology. Direct TV DVR can record up to 70 hours of information on its hard drive.
In 1975, beta audio-video recording and playback first arrived in the United States to the consumer with 100,000 VCR machines. This technology was replaced by VHS and almost every household in the United States could boast the ownership of a VCR. These machines are being rapidly replaced with DVDs as more and more people own computers, write their own CDs and DVDs and digital technology is becoming a necessity rather than a luxury. Personal Audio and Visual libraries that occupy space are being replaced as technology speeds up and puts everything into Hard Drives. The DIRECT TV DVR is a media storage device which archives the users favorite movies, TV shows, sporting events and the like.
Direct TV DVR users can pause and rewind live television, perform instant replays and go into slow motion mode, skip commercials, and record hundreds of hours of television programming, all without the hassle of videotape. Viewers can program the Direct TV DVR to record an entire season's worth of their favorite shows, with the option of skipping reruns. The Direct TV DVR will automatically record extra over-time programming. The Digital Video Recorder can also be programmed to record shows two weeks in advance of broadcast.
The DirectTV DVR has the capability to record and store programming while the subscriber is watching a different channel. The DVR technology also allows the viewer to stop, pause, skip ahead and rewind live programming. DVR technology is available for basic Direct TV customers as well as those customers desiring high definition television. HDTV can be recorded as well, in the same manner as standard digital satellite television. DVR technology has the capability to skip through commercials, which is very convenient when pressed for time or if the viewer wants to watch programming commercial-free. The Direct TV DVR stores the recorded programming on its hard drive and it won't dispose of the recorded content until its memory is full. Viewers can decide how long they want programs to be stored on the device and program the Directtv DVR accordingly through the Options menu.
Direct TV offers high definition (HD) components so viewers can tune into and record their favorite HD shows. To watch HD with Directv subscribers need an HD set, and Directv's HDTV receiver or HDTV Digital Video Recorder. The HD DVR has great standard DVR features, plus the ability to record and store 30 hours of HD programming or 200 hours of standard television programming. The Directv HDTV DVR has a 250 GB hard drive, and it supports a number of resolution formats.
